CEFR Admission Requirements

Restrictions on double degrees

The Master’s degree rule

From 1st of March 2020 the “Master’s rule” will be reinstated and will apply for the summer 2020 intake.

The Master’s rule allows applicants who have completed a Danish or a foreign master’s programme to be admitted to a new higher educational programme only in case of vacant study places. The rule apply regardless of what country you completed your Master’s degree in. The rule contain no transitional provisions.

Exemptions may be granted

The academy can grant exemptions from the rule.

Zealand may grant an exemption if we finds that there are special circumstances, such as serious illness, which prevent you from using your Master’s degree to find work. Being unemployed or having a general desire to switch careers is not a valid ground for an exemption.

If you are granted an exemption, you will have a right to apply to one or more programmes on equal terms with other applicants, as long as you meet the programme’s admission requirements.

Exemptions will always be granted on the basis of a specific individual assessment. In practice, the academy will only be in a position to grant exemptions from the rule in exceptional cases.

To apply for an exemption, you have to upload relevant documentation together with your application for admission.

It’s important that you upload all of the relevant documentation so we have sufficient material to base a decision on when we consider your application.

Required documentation

  1. Documentation of yourpreviously completed degree programme
  2. A short text where you explain why you can’t use your education
  3. Documentation of unusual circumstances, for example in the form of a medical certificate or medical records

Legal Basis

The rules concerning restrictions on Masters degree are found in: BEK nr 152 af 26/02/2020 om adgang til erhvervsakademiuddannelser og professionsbacheloruddannelser, § 2
